TOKI

Welcome to TOKI, a game about Southern Resident Killer Whales!

There is no save in this game.

There is only birth or abort.

You play as a pregnant killer whale, who tells the tale of their population’s struggles as you try to manage her hunger and happiness.

TOKI came from the name Tokitae, a Southern Resident Killer Whale who was part of the live capture event in the 1970s that accelerated the population’s decline. She was the last of the captured cetaceans to pass, at the approximate age of 56. Her passing was in August of 2023 at the Miami Seaquarium.

The goal of this game is to help advocate for the survival of the Southern Resident Killer Whales. If you’d like to lean more, please visit the SeaDoc Society and their partner organizations!

This game was created as Graphic Design thesis project. It is still in development.
